Heterochromia in Anime
Let’s explore some anime characters that have heterochromia: a rare medical condition that results in two different eye colors.
We all love a harem. What’s better than one cute girl? A whole group of cute girls! We even have our own cute harem manga in Shimai V. Harem stories are often full of tropes, including the types of girls involved. What is your favorite kind of harem member?
Exactly what it says on the tin; she’s got great assets and potentially knows how to use them. This is often combined with other character tropes or other interesting factors like she has no idea why everyone pays her attention or is horrendously bullied for being a bimbo. The opposite girl also comes up, the character with a complex over the fact she’s an A cup.
This girl isn’t betraying anything she’s feeling on her face. Often played up as the opposite to other characters that may constantly trip up over their feelings, she’s not necessarily pure logic, but she is always cool and collected. She may not even react in the usual way when she experiences pain. Some emotionless girls are also ice queens, but not always.
You may have to work very hard to reach her heart, but she will be highly loyal after you eventually find it. This character type can be used to significant effect. Simply donning glasses can have everyone assuming the character is quiet and bookish, but there is often something else simmering beneath those lenses.
A great example of this is Akia from High School DxD; there’s a pervert underneath her eyewear!
She has always been around and knows all your secrets. The time you wet yourself in kindergarten, she was there. She’s so close you may not even release she’s right in front of you or even think of her as someone who could be more than friends.
There’s also the added pressure that ruining your long, deep friendship would be such a significant loss. Sometimes the creepy gets dialed up a notch with the characters being so close they refer to each other as brother and sister.
This girl has far too much energy! You may on the surface, find it annoying... but deep down, there’s a part of you that’s glad you are the focus of her attention. She tends to babble, sometimes so fast that you can’t understand her, and she seriously needs to get into sports to burn off some of that excess energy. She’s a great foil to a calm harem king and lends determination to all characters.
Does she like you or not? She’s the typical tsundere, cold on the outside but potentially warm on the inside. That is if you can ever get to her heart. She’s often pretty easy to spot in the harem as she’s likely to have blonde twintails and maybe even display that absolute territory above her thigh-high socks.
Also known as dojikko, she regularly trips over nothing and may need your help to simply walk down the stairs. Her appeal is in the fact you just long to protect her; she is pure moe. She may be a pure ditz, or sometimes this might be an act, or she might have a hidden talent. Some dojikko play up on gap moe and have her as a hidden genius behind that clumsy exterior.
Of course, there are many other character tropes used in harems and characters that are blends of many tropes all in one! For more harem goodness, check out Shimai V here.
